There is no denying that some of the best inspiration towards the desire to wed can come from fellow couples who already tied the knot. Therefore, we have gathered a selection of our favorite proposal stories from our brides and grooms from some of the published editions. These are meant to inspire you to start building your dream, at the same time serving as a sign of celebrating February, the month of love.
Monica and Obakeng Molebatsi
Having been joined by the love of cars, Obakeng decided to propose on 24 December 2019.it was in the middle of a pitstop to unwind and get snacks; on their way to his place, as they were spending the Christmas holidays together. “Seeing him go down on one knee made my heart stop for a minute. I couldn’t even enjoy my snack as my hands were shaking to the puzzlement of what really, he was doing. As he pulled the small box from his pocket and popped the question, a lot of emotions and tears of joy took over. I even struggled to say Yes though I did agree to the proposal” Monica summarised the moment. From one of her statements “it couldn’t have been more perfect”, one can easily tell that the festive mood switched from good to superlative within minutes.
Rangarirai Tekwani and Clarence Chibodera
For these college sweethearts, 2018 was not only their academics graduation year but also their final year of graduation from four years of dating. Their proposal took place on the 30th of March, their anniversary being the 6th of March. To celebrate their fourth year together, he invited both their friends and family, which the bride found rather odd, little did she know he was going the propose. During that time Ranga was going crazy over the ‘Moyo Muti’ song by Nyasha David. As she entered the venue, moto muti was playing in the background but she didn’t overthink it. And before she knew it, she was in the same room with the man himself, Nyasha David and she took him as an anniversary gift from hubby. “The moment was priceless. As we were dancing to the song; somehow, he got me distracted and when I turned, he was already on one knee with the most gorgeous ring. Both our tears spoke what words failed to say, the moment was magical” she added.
Tabeth Nyathi and Nyasha Chapfupa
The couple met at college; NUST administration offices to be precise, she had just enrolled for part one and he was in his final year. For their proposal, they flew to Vic Falls to celebrate their first anniversary. On their last night, they went for a dinner cruise and that’s when the magical moment happened. “The whole dinner cruise was rather odd as I wanted to dance. Just after dinner while we were having dessert, he started saying sweet and emotional staff, from nowhere. I was shocked and puzzled as to where all that was coming from. I was slowly getting scared and worried until he went down on one knee and proposed and I said yes.
