Unexpected spark: When former high school mates realized they were meant for each other

By Ivy Chibanda

Life is unpredictable and sometimes when we fantasize about who we’ll get married to, we rarely think it might be someone we already knew. It might be a former classmate, workmate, or churchmate. If you had told Vimbiso Mazorodze and Kudzai Chikorova in 2011 that they would be husband and wife in the next 11 years, they probably wouldn’t have believed you. When something is meant to be, God has a way of making things happen.

Vimbiso and Kudzai

Kudzai and Vimbiso had been classmates in High school, Visitation Makumbi High school, but they only started dating in 2015. After 6 years of dating, Kudzai made it known to Vimbiso that he was ready to marry her and the procedures began. Lobola was paid on the 4th of September 2021.

On the 26th of February 2022, the couple proclaimed their love for each other and exchanged their vows in front of their relatives and friends.

It was an evening wedding that had been meant to start around noon, but as we all know, weddings rarely start at the scheduled time. The wedding ceremony took place at a Roman Catholic church in Mabelreign before they proceeded to Tiffany’s Grant Estate for the reception.

The wedding theme was simplicity and elegance and the wedding colour was champagne. The décor was exquisite and it portrayed the simplicity and elegance that the couple was going for. The bride had only two bridesmaids and there were no dance routines as you would expect at most weddings. The Iyasa group gave an entertaining performance for the guests. The most memorable moment was the moment the bride’s brother gave his speech, up to today, everyone still talks about that speech.

From their love story, Vimbiso shares how life is unpredictable and how people should sometimes just go with the flow.
